Principal's Message

September 2026

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to the 2026-2027 school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed time with family and friends. As we begin a new school year, we are excited to welcome all our students back and look forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and success.

First Day Information

Kindergarten students will have a soft landing on their first day. To help ease their transition and avoid the excitement of the morning arrival of older students, Kindergarten students should be dropped off at 9:00 a.m. on their first day. Kindergarten students are welcome to ride the bus home at the end of the day.

Students in Grades 1-6 should arrive as they normally would on the first day of school.

Our school doors open at 8:15 a.m. Please note that students should not be dropped off before this time, as there is no supervision available prior to 8:15 a.m.

Our daily schedule remains the same as last year:

  • Doors Open: 8:15 a.m.
  • Morning Announcements: 8:35 a.m.
  • Dismissal: 2:45 p.m.

We continue to explore a minor schedule adjustment for the 2027-2028 school year and hope to have plans finalized soon. We will keep families informed as information becomes available.

Finding Classrooms

When students arrive on Tuesday, they will enter the building, and staff members will be available throughout the school to help everyone find their new classrooms. Class lists will be posted on classroom doors, and our staff will be ready to assist students as needed.

Student Drop-Off Procedures

To ensure a safe and efficient arrival process, please follow these guidelines when using the drop-off lane:

  • Enter the parking lot and follow the outside perimeter.
  • Remain in your vehicle and wait in line.
  • Staff members will open vehicle doors and assist students in exiting safely.
  • Please have students ready to exit the vehicle to help keep traffic moving smoothly.
  • Do not pass or go around other vehicles in the drop-off lane.
  • If a staff member signals you to move forward, please do so promptly.
  • For the safety of all students and staff, please wait your turn when exiting the parking lot.

Bus Lane Procedures

The bus lane is available for parent drop-off and pick-up between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Please note that the bus lane is reserved exclusively for school buses during the following times:

  • 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
  • 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

We appreciate your cooperation in respecting these restrictions and helping to keep our students safe.

Please do not stop your vehicle to let students exit in front of the drop-off parking lot or in front of the bus lane.

Princess Drive Drop-Off and Pick-Up

If you choose to use Princess Drive for drop-off or pick-up, please travel up Princess Drive toward Queens Road and drop students off in a location that allows them to cross safely at the crosswalk with Bob's assistance.

Questions?

If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Enjoy the remainder of the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday as we begin another exciting school year together!

Warm regards,

Shelly King Compton, Principal MCS
